Your Derby Story:

I was in my final year of university in Middlesbrough, when my neighbour (ChuChu Rocket) informed me of roller derby and insisted I should try it. As I had skated as a child and remembered enjoying it, I decided to give it a go!

I went along to my first session with Middlesbrough Milk Rollers (MMR), feeling like Bambi on ice and watching all the skaters whiz round the track, I knew that I wanted to do this and I definitely wanted to be as good as them! I went to every possible skate session available as well as skating in the park! I was officially a derby addict! I spent 4 months with MMR and had an amazing time, even went to blood and thunder with them, learned so much and got very drunk (Ooops). But alas, I had to leave as I finished Uni and headed back to the Midlands, where the lovely captain (Darcey) had helped to arrange my transfer to the Imposters.

I met the Imposters and hit it off with the team instantly. The first day I met them we played rounders, sat around discussing drunken antics and hairy toes. I just knew I would fit in (not that i have hairy toes... I don't, really... I'll show you!) I had some great times with IRG, both on and off the track!

Again, I have moved teams as I am moving house due to career prospects (as in Leeds city has them and Lincoln city doesn't!). Leeds has always been on the cards for me, I guess its better late then never!!!! This city is a keeper! (and another move may drive me mad!)

I love roller derby for so many reasons! I love the sport, the tactics, the ability to get fit while having fun, the network of skaters (like some underground society), the friends I have/will make and having something positive to obsess about -other then cats!

I am so excited about my future as a doll. Everyone on the team is so lovely and welcoming and I hope one day to be as awesome as all these girls!
