Cecee

Ceecee Slammer 96
I do it for the girls!
Derby Number:
#96
Rebel Roses Travel Team
How long have you been skating?:
I skated a lot when I was younger, I didn't have my own skates so used my brothers Bauers which were about 4 x too big for me!... I used to go to a Roller Disco with my friends every Saturday at our local leisure centre... I've been playing Roller Derby since February 2009, it's addictive, kind'a like Pringles, and once you pop you just can't stop!!
What does your derby name mean to you?:
I don't consider myself to have a Derby name anymore, I decided to drop the Slam'er part of my name at the end of our last season. Everyone has called me Cecee since school as it's a play on my initials. So, yes, I am one of those "boring" Derby girls unfortunately!
What's your best move/technique?:
Oooo I can't possibly share that with you!... Although, I love a bit of backwards blocking!
What's your favourite roller derby anthem/tunes to skate to?:
I'll skate to anything but I can honestly say I rarely hear the music at bouts anyway. A bit of Peaches always makes me smile though!
Favourite roller derby quote?:
Suck it up!
Who is your Derby Crush?:
I am still yet to find one.....
Any advice for a Ragdoll?:
Stick with it even if it seems like you're not getting anywhere.
What are you looking forward to in the 2012 season?:
Exciting times with LRD is what I'm looking forward too! Also us having a successfully strong season. Putting everything we learned from last year into practice this year. We've got some pretty exciting bouts planned so I am looking forward to them.
Your Derby Story:

I've been involved with Athletics and sports for most of my life.
I love all kinds of sports, watching or participating, I enjoy anything fitness related, the harder the better!

Roller Derby came into my life really randomly.
Whilst on a course for work a girl I had just met just turned and asked me if I could skate, I replied "Erm... yes!"... She then went onto explain what it was. I thought it sounded insane so I went home and researched it more and watched some online videos. I thought it was quite possibly the coolest thing I'd ever seen!
I had agreed to go to the next practice with my new friend.
Once I put those lovely hired Disco boots on I knew that was it... Roller Derby was for me!... I hurried home and bought my skates and kit that day.

My proudest Derby moments so far -
Being a founding member of my last league - IRG and helping girls reach their goals and us winning our first bout,
Winning best blocker at Blood and Thunder all star bout 2010,
Attending All star try outs,
Joining LRD! :)

My future goal is to be the best skater I can be for LRD :)
