This will be a historic bout for both Hot Wheel Roller Derby and Leeds Roller Dolls as both teams meet publicly for the first time. Though LRD’s Rebel Roses are the better-established of the two teams, Hot Wheel Roller Derby are quickly rising through the ranks and are most definitely a force to be reckoned with.
This bout will take place at North Bridge Leisure Centre, Halifax, so close enough for all of our home fans to come and support us! And for you fact fans: Hot Wheel coach Jerry Attric was originally affiliated with Leeds Roller Dolls, as were some of their skaters!
This June our jet-setting Whip-its will be heading to Austria to take on the Vienna Rollergirls. This will be the Whip-its second European bout, their first being against Helsinki Roller Derby’s All-star Ninja Turtles last season.

Leeds Roller Dolls Rebel Roses are excited to be attending the first European WFTDA sanctioned tournament!
The battle to become Europe's top WFTDA Roller Derby league is
coming to Berlin. The Berlin Bombshells have called and the top ten ranked WFTDA leagues in Europe have answered and will be fighting for the first place.
Track Queens Battle Royal will be hosted by Bear City Rollerderby, which was founded in May 2008 in Berlin. Their travelteam, the Berlin Bombshells, became runner-up in the German national championships in 2010 and is the first German WFTDA member.
It promises to be an exciting weekend, as it is not every day that Europe's Crème de la Crème in Roller Derby meets on the same track to fight for the crown in European Roller Derby.
Jason Ruffell is one of the best and most dedicated Roller Derby photographers in the UK today. He has been shooting Roller Derby for over four years (longer than most of us have been playing it) and has covered 138 bouts (and counting) including the 2011 Roller Derby World Cup held in Toronto, Canada.
See his exhibition at Bank Street Arts, Sheffield from 30th October to 10th November 2012.

The final home bout of the season for Leeds Roller Dolls and our last at Huddersfield Sports Centre before we move to a new home at the Futsal Arena in Leeds.
We had two incredibly exciting bouts...
First up, Leeds Roller Dolls' Whip-Its will meet Central City Rollergirls' Slay Belles on track for the first time. Both teams are in Division Two of the Euro Derby rankings; the Whip-Its will be fresh from their first overseas bout in Helsinki. We reckon this one will be a nail-biter!
The second bout of the day will be Leeds Roller Dolls' Rebel Roses facing up against Central City Rollergirls' Centrinnians. The last time they met, CCR were victorious, but LRD have had a strong season, starting with an impressive score against London Roller Girls' Brawl Saints.
The Whip-Its travelled to Helsinki for a re-match against Helsinki Roller Derby's All Stars.
This August, Glasgow Roller Derby is delighted to welcome five of Europe's top teams to compete in a two-day tournament at Kelvinhall International Sports Centre. This includes LRD's Rebel Roses, the Doll's A team is always delighted to have some away game cheers.
Tickets are at the BARGAIN price of £4 - tickets available on the door
LRD are VERY excited to have found a new home in Leeds and we'd like to invite you to an exhibition bout at our new abode, on 11th August.
The day will consist of 3 x 30 minute bouts, showcasing all of LRD's skaters. If you've never watched roller derby before - this is a great place to start. If you're a seasoned LRD fan, come and cheer on your favourite skaters... or maybe you used to come and watch us in Leeds and wondered where the hell we'd been the last couple of years...? If so - come and check out our new skills!
Leeds Roller Dolls are proud to present the Great Yorkshire Showdown. In its 3rd year, this Northern tournament is now a regular fixture in the Derby Diary.
> Advance/online tickets -are no longer available
Tickets will still be available on the door, come and join us for a great day of Roller Derby
Leeds Roller Dolls teams went off to play two teams, but not in a double header. Instead the Whip-Its travelled west along the M62 to take on Liverpool's finest the Liverpool Roller Birds, the second time these two teams have met on the track, and after a very close first half, seeing the Liverpool Roller Birds ahead by one point at half time, the Whip-Its pulled it back and came out with a win with a score of LRB 84 - 111 LRD Whip-Its.
Leeds Roller Dolls first travel team - The Rebel Roses - faced up to the London Rockin' Rollers Allstars on June 16th.
London Rockin' Rollers, like LRD were established in 2007, and played in Europe's first inter-league roller derby bout in the same year, shortly followed by the UK's first bout! The Allstars have skaters that have represented Team England and Team Sweden in the 2011 roller derby World cup, and can certainly be counted as one of UK Roller Derby's pedigree teams.
This was not be the first time Leeds Roller Dolls have publicly faced up to London Rockin' Rollers.. the first time at home in 2010, was a close fought battle, and then away in 2011, which saw LRR win both times.
To warm you up, Leeds Roller Dolls hosted a Derby-taunt bout with fresh upcoming skaters from mixed leagues. There was plenty of fresh talent from skaters all over the UK.
With what is becoming an annual tradition, for the third successive year a group of eight rowers
from Leeds Roller Dolls will be braving the Windermere Row to raise money for St Gemma's
On Saturday June 2nd, they’ll be rowing 10 miles across a rather large lake in a wee wooden boat.
It is a punishing challenge but being a competitive bunch, they will no doubt be giving it their all to
Many thanks to Royal Windsor Rollergirls for hosting this closed bout against a mixed team of Rebel Roses and Whip-Its.

Saturday 28th April saw London Brawling take on some of the best and brightest of Euro Derby talent in a European All-Star Invitational team featuring skaters from Berlin, Stockholm, Stuttgart, Copenhagen, Helsinki and from all around the UK.
But more importantly Leeds Roller Dolls, Rebel Roses faced off against LRG Brawl Saints, despite a penalty high first half the Rebels came back stormin' in the second half and giving the crowd a nail biting 30 minutes, reducing a score margin of over one hundred to just 30.
Skate awards for the Rebel Roses saw Lexi Lightspeed win MVP award! Well done Lexi!

Another exciting event from the Leeds Roller Dolls!!
We brought over the newly formed Helsinki Roller Girls for their UK début against out very own LRD Whip-Its!
And if that wasn't enough we also brought man derby (that famous MERBY!) to West Yorkshire for the very first time with BO$$ HOG$ (Southern Discomfort) vs The Juke Brothers (Northern All Stars) starring our very own Crash Matt and Deadly Nedly!
Remember that infamous bout against Glasgow's Irn Bruisers that resulted in not one but two overtime jams last season?? Well this was a rematch, both teams have changed, but the Derby tension remained high, with another nail-biting bout, complete with time-outs, and power jams a plenty. This time Irn Bruisers came out on top. What we know for sure is LRD v GRG is "never dull!"
And if that wasn't enough our whipper-snapper up and comers - the LRD Whip-its (including guest skater Dynamite Stix from MMR took on a team of guest skaters from Hot Wheel Roller Derby, Wakey Wheeled Cats, and Middlesbrough Milk Rollers. Another close game seeing lead switching back and forth between the two teams of rolling dames. The United Rollers eventually took the winning place breaking the Whipits winning streak.
This is a charity endurance race of 11 laps of the historic goodwood motor circuit (=26.62 miles).
On the 31st of July, nine of your favourite Leeds Roller Dolls and Refs ran and climbed around a 5K urbanathlon - an urban assault course in the city of Manchester.

After meeting for the first time on track at Roll Britannia (2009), Leeds Rollerd Dolls were happy to host Berlin Bombshells in their first International home bout. Berlin Bombshellstook back a well fought victory; Leeds Roller Dolls played well keeping those Bombshells on the edge of their wheels!
We are well into our Bouting season and enjoying every minute and we hope you were part of Double win on the 18th June 2011!
Leeds Roller Dolls took on the mighty Royal Windsor Roller Girls in their first meeting on the track. It was a hard fought battle with each team taking the lead on numerous occasions, however LRD came out victorious
Earlier in the afternoon LRD Whipits took on local rivals Wakey Wheeled Cats, while the Whipits stayed in the lead for the whole bout WWC did not let them win any point easily.
On 4th June 2011, six of the Leeds Roller Dolls (Caesar Maniac, Chernobelle, Luna Landing, Robin Hoodlum, R.I.Punzel and Terror Track-Doll) headed to the Lake District to take on the Windermere Row for St Gemma's Hospice - this year in it's 30th anniversary.
They rowed 10 miles across Lake Windermere in a wee wooden boat. It was a punishing challenge but being as competitive off skates as on, they gave it their all, in windy conditions, to finish 3rd place in the ladies category with time of 2hrs 39 minutes.
They have so far raised a staggering £890 for St Gemma's Hospice in Leeds, which provides specialist medical and nursing care for people with life threatening illnesses, predominantly cancer, along with support for their families.
It's not too late to sponsor them! And you can do it online at http://www.justgiving.com/dollsdowindermere

And if that's just not all ROLLER DERBY enough for you, we'll be playing footage of our home bout against Glasgow Roller Girls on a projector. The awesome bout that we won. Yes, that one.
LRD held their first tournament in October 2010. Teams from Manchester, Liverpool, Newcastle, Lincolnshire, Middlesbourough, Sheffield, Wakefield and of course our very own LEEDS ROLLER DOLLS, introducing there New Second Travel Team, Whip-Its gathered to play a series of 1/2 hour bouts. The tournament, hosted at Huddersfield Sports Centre, turned out to be a fun-filled day of Derby.
Winners on the day! Lincolnshire Bombers triumphed in a hard fought final agains LRD's own Yorkshire Whip-Its!
In what turned out to be a nail biting game, with plenty of thrilling moments, Leeds Roller Dolls went on to win against the mighty Glasgow Roller Girls' Irn Bruisers, in the last nail-biting moments. In a bout that saw excellent jamming on both sides and effective blocking & tactics throughout, at the final whistle scores were 78 -78. The excited crowd saw both teams step up for a further two jaw-dropping overtime Jams, culminating in The Dolls victorious at the end of one of the closest bouts this season.
LRD's first Open Intraleague Bout, was an Independence Day Success. Blacks Stars squared up against the White Stripes. Joining the Dolls in the battle was fellow West Yorkshire skaters the Wakey Wheeled Cats. Sparkling for the Stars were Fu Quin Hell, Feline Fatale and Edd Hunter; while the Stripes were not to be out-stripped had guest Cats Lookin' Fur Touble, Madame Whip Crash and Bruise Buffer.
This was another bout not to be missed! A first for both teams, London Rockin Rollers met the Leeds Roller Dolls on the track for a bit of roller derby fun on the 19th June at the Dewsbury Sport Centre, Dewsbury.
After a hard fought battle, London Rockin' Rollers were the victors!
Leeds Roller Dolls first Intraleague bout saw the moustachioed Cops squaring up against those crafty Robbers. The first half saw the Robbers escaping with a runaway lead. The second half saw the strong arm of the law closing the gap on those pesky villains in a final score that did in fact see the Robbers winning and getting away scot free!
Those Rollin’ Aces, the Birmingham Blitz Dames, headed north to take on those Ace Venturas, the Leeds Roller Dolls, in a Clash-ino Royale to remember! The last meeting of these Queens of the Pack saw Birmingham royally rush away with victory but a year has passed and Leeds were gunning for some Vegas vengeance! The girls had their laces high and their poker skates on, it was a Las Vegas Takedown! When the (c)hips were down, LRD came out victorious.
This was certainly NOT a bout to be missed. Both teams rallied up the crowd with a nail biting and high adrenaline event! Well done again Leeds and thank you very much Rainy City Rollergirls for hosting.
LRD would also like to thank our Coach Jerry Attric and Rosewhip for being the best line up managers on the day, our wonderful supporters, merch ladies and gents and finally our Refs- the Enforcer, Matt the Knife and Deadly Nedly.
Well done LRD! Big thank you to Middlesbrough Milk Rollers for hosting such a exciting and wicked mini tournament. And another big thanks and congrats to all the participating teams: Quad Squad (Severn Roller Torrent, Lincolnshire Bombers, Bedford and Blitz Dames)and Central City Rollergirls!
Leeds Roller Dolls took on the mighty Sheffield Steel Rollergirls in West Yorkshire's first ever public roller derby bout!
