Robin Hoodlum

Robin Hoodlum 19
Respect da hood.
Derby Number:
#19
How long have you been skating?:
Well, I used to play roller hockey outside my house with the kid that lived next door. We used to have this old guy come out and tell us to go play by our own houses =[ (by the way, I was) but that kind of fell through because every two seconds we'd be like 'car' 'car' 'lorry' 'car.' But derby wise - we're coming up to a year.
What does your derby name mean to you?:
Robin Hoodlum is just a ball of cheese, and I love it. I'm from Nottingham, so I was all 'hmmm should probably have a Nottingham-related-name' and after 'Mad Marion' 'Fryattack' and 'Will Harlot (which I still totally love btw)' I settled on that... mainly because most people have heard of Robin Hood.
What's your best move/technique?:
Falling on my face? I have that perfected to a tee. Most people choose knee falls, not me. It's all about the face.
What's your favourite roller derby anthem/tunes to skate to?:
This is gunna sound so cheesefest but 'Caught Up in You' by .38 Special. It's my 'gettin'-in-the-moody-for-derby' song. If you haven't heard it, google it. Like right now.
Favourite roller derby quote?:
'Hit mehhh' true Maggie Give'emhell styley. I'm also a fan of 'loves and shoves' and I HIT GIRLS =D
Your Derby Story:

I went to the LRD vs. Glasgow bout in August 2010 and anybody who saw that bout (played in it) will know that it was pretty special. So I was like 'I'm doing this' but I didn't move to Leeds until the end of September, so went to the freshmeat for my local derby league.

So I went to the freshmeat for LRD when I'd finally got around to moving up and was, at first, extremely terrified of all the fast and amazing skaters LRD had (the other league were relatively new so only had a few uber-fast skaters). But once I maanged to stay upright for a few laps, I really started to enjoy it. I didn't miss a Sunday session until one day, as I was trying to do 25 in 5, I felt very ill and had to skate off and basically cough my lungs up in the changing rooms. So I went to the doctor and he told me the fresher's flu I'd thought I'd had for the past 5 weeks was actually Glandular Fever. I was slightly gutted, had to leave Leeds for a bit and had to go home, couldn't skate. It was very much sad times.

When I was allowed to play again I basically had to start from the beginning. Luckily the new freshmeat session thing was happening so it was easy to get back into it. I think the most I've achieved is letting people hit me. I was scared for ages and now I'm all, 'yeah just hit me' and it's all good. Though bruises still freak me out, that one's gunna take time.

And that's my derby story.
I'm wondering if it's longer than Caesar's o.O
