How long have you been skating?:
I ice skated for several years into my teens but hadn't touched quad skates until "fresh meat" in May 2010, then started properly mid July!
What does your derby name mean to you?:
My derby name is a play on a previous nick name I had in my first job. I got called Kanga-Ruth because I liked to bounce around. I didn't think it quite cut it in the derby world so played around with the name until I felt it stuck.
What's your best move/technique?:
My defining derby move would quite simply be being small. Its not anything I purposefully try to do, but I achieve it well!
Favourite roller derby quote?:
Just pick your foot up! - Advice given to by Rikkter after months of moaning about how I keep getting my wheels stuck in other peoples wheels when skating.
Your Derby Story:

I found roller derby when I was finishing my degree. I had spent the best part of four and a half years studying a degree part time with the Open University. My degree had taken up all my time that wasn't taken up by work.
I was almost in a panic about what I was going to do with the time I now had to myself.

Fortunately I found out about a fresh meat session and went along. I went along to the next available intake. I tried to get to as many training sessions as I could. I passed minimum skills shortly before completing the last exam of my degree.

Now my degree is completely out of the way people know not to ask me to do anything on Tuesday, and Thursday evenings or on Sunday afternoons.
