I first attempted to stand up on eight wheels in February 2011. Before this I had never really skated before (being pulled along a bumpy path by my boyfriend doesn't count does it??).
What does your derby name mean to you?:
It's a play on Hyde Park, my surname being Hyde and all...
What's your best move/technique?:
I once managed to fall flat, FLAT, on my front, and somehow didn't break my face, where were my arm reflexes?? thanks helmet <3
What's your favourite roller derby anthem/tunes to skate to?:
"Skate or Die" by Teenage Bottle Rockets, I play it on the way to practice everytime, it's awesome.
Your Derby Story:

I first heard of roller derby through a friend from school on facebook (Lincolnshire Bombers, Alabama WhipMan) and thought that I needed to find out what it was. I went along to a couple of practices in 2009ish but couldn't commit the time etc etc. Then a year or so later, I had moved house, had a new job and a car to get to practice with so I decided to get back in touch with LRD. As luck had it their AMAZING ragdoll academy was about to start so I went along for another go and just thought it was awesome!

From the start I was in awe of all the "grown up dolls" and their jumpy, skatey, bashness and never ever imagined I could be anything like them!

Four months on and with a massive cheer in July 2011 I passed my minimum skills with some fabulous other ragdolls around me! Unfortunately in my first scrimmage I spent a little too much time on the floor and bashed my knee a little too much which meant I had to take about two months off skates, which was TORTURE!! But I am all better and ready and raring to get BASHING! So I have been very busy doing exercises to strengthen my knees, sweating it out in a variety of gym classes (I LOVE spinning and body pump, who knew?!) and most importantly of all getting to as many skating practices as I can, to NSO if I can't skate and I can see improvements everytime I skate.

I still have a million miles to go but with so many lovely ladies around me cheering me on, helping me up and kicking me up the bum if I need it I know I WILL get there eventually, bring on the bouts!

I <3 LRD!
