Cookie Cutlass

I started skating way back as a small unruly tom-boy of 5 or 6 on those amezzin strap-on-to-trainers trucks that were around in the 80's. I knew I loved my wheels from an early age. I then progressed to beautiful yellow and blue disco skates for my 8th birthday, wherein I discovered my friend down the road could skate. She was my first coach passing me on minimum skills like rolling down a hill, walking on stoppers and one leg skating! I then spent a large portion of my teenage years on my super cool Bauer Turbos at the weekly roller disco, and hanging out at skate parks with my brother and his blading mates.

I was so excited when Caesar Maniac suggested we try out skating with LRD. I had already looked into it through facebook, and discovered I already knew Roxy. I remember the night before and the complete joy as I dusted off my old bauers. I took them apart and a super wide grin appeared as I remember the joy of skate maintainance again!

Being part of a team and doing regular training again is something I never thought I'd love after too many gruelling years as a competetive swimmer, but love it I do. I love the OOOOFFF sound of a perfect block and even the stinky sweaty hugs after scrimage.

I love skating and miss having wheels on my feet when I have to be a normo and work!
